Your first session, step by step
You do not need to know the perfect routine or say the perfect thing. Start with one person who seems kind, then arrange a short conversation.
-
Choose someone
Browse profiles, watch introduction videos, and check the role label. Choose an exercise buddy for company or a verified fitness trainer when you want professional exercise guidance.
-
Send a simple first message
Hi, I found you on Exercise Buddy Finder. I’m looking for friendly company while I exercise. I’d like to do [activity] around [days and time]. Would you be interested in a short call to see if we’re a good fit?
-
Agree on the practical details
Before paying, agree on:
- The video-call app and who sends the link
- The date, time, and time zone
- The activity and session length
- The price, currency, payment method, cancellation terms, and refunds
- Whether either person may record—the answer is no unless both clearly agree
-
Prepare your space
Clear enough room to move, place the camera where you can be seen without showing private information, have water nearby, and keep a phone within reach if you live alone. Use only equipment you already know how to use unless a qualified trainer is guiding you.
-
Keep the first session easy
It is fine to spend part of the first call talking. You can stop, change an activity, or end the call at any time. If something hurts or you feel seriously unwell, stop.
-
Decide what happens next
If it felt comfortable, arrange another time. If it did not, you do not owe anyone another session. Your membership lets you contact somebody else without another directory fee.
If someone does not reply or something goes wrong
Try another person if you receive no reply after a day or two. For a missed session, money concern, role-boundary problem, or uncomfortable behaviour, use the member report form. For immediate danger or serious illness, contact the emergency service appropriate for your location first.
